Trump's advisers are quickly working to organize a rally after news that more than half the performers slated for the Great American State Fair concert series to be held this summer on the National Mall are dropping out.

After prominent artists pulled out of a series of planned concerts celebrating the nation's 250th anniversary, President Donald Trump said he was considering canceling the musical performances and giving a speech himself instead.

Freedom 250, the organization behind the event, said Saturday that President Trump will kick off the event on June 24 in an opening ceremony.

The president had earlier said on social media that he should take the place of “these highly paid, Third Rate ‘Artists,’” saying he gets “larger audiences than Elvis.”
