After prominent artists pulled out of a series of planned concerts celebrating the nation's 250th anniversary, President Donald Trump said he was considering canceling the musical performances and giving a speech himself instead.

Freedom 250, the organization behind the event, said Saturday that President Trump will kick off the event on June 24 in an opening ceremony.

The group organizing the June fair on Washington’s National Mall, Freedom 250, confirmed the billing in a statement.
